Tom White

This is the personal home page for Tom White. Here you will find a repository of computer articles, talks and projects that I have created over the last few years. I also have a Java blog over at java.net and a more general mainly technical one.

I am a consultant software engineer, specializing in open source search and distributed computing technologies. I am a committer on the Apache Hadoop project and a member of the Hadoop Project Management Committee.

The name of this site, "tiling.org", came about because my first Java project (alhambra) was concerned with plane tilings. Many of the other projects have a mathematical or visual slant.
